Supporting our Community
The Sandhills Jewish Congregation is strongly committed to improving the lives of others within the community. On October 10, 2024 members of the Temple came together to remember the October 7, 2023 Hamas terrorist attack. Our congregation accomplishes this goal through our active participation in the Sandhills/Moore Coalition for Human Care, Family Promise Program and the Moore County Literacy Council. We encourage our members to get involved with these important programs.

Sandhills/Moore Coalition for Human Care
Sandhills/Moore Coalition for Human Care is supported by more than 70 area congregations to meet the emergency needs of Moore County neighbors by providing food, clothing, and financial resources and to collaborate with appropriate agencies for clients with on-going needs. Sandhills Jewish Congregation will be collecting food for the Coalition for Human Care in November and also collecting baby food and diapers or food in January, April and June.

Family Promise Program
The Family Promise Program is a cooperative effort of various houses of worship in our community to help house and feed homeless families and assist in getting them on their feet. Our congregation works with the members of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church for one week, quarterly during the year to provide meals for the families. Several Beth Shalom members have volunteered and will continue to serve, but more could join. When future training sessions are announced, we will notify the congregation.
